New York State Is Throwing Money At The ‘Child Care Desert’ Problem
If you are a parent of a young child, then chances are pretty good you have struggled to find child care for your little one. Chenango, Delaware and Otsego Counties have been dealing with an issue as a "child care desert" for quite a while now but it seems that New York State is providing needed funding to help address this lack.
This new Child Care Desert grant funding from the state is available to those who wish to start up a childcare business. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who would like to stay home with their child or children while generating an income from a child care business in their home. For those with an existing child care business and wish to expand, there will be another grant to apply for coming soon.
Applications will be accepted starting on April 11, 2022 at ocfs.ny.gov/programs/childcare/deserts. You can find out more about applying for this grant through a free webinar offered by Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego & Schoharie Counties on March 17 at 9:00 am. Pre-registration is required by calling Rebecca at (607) 432-0061.
All the information needed to apply for the current grants offered is here.
If you are a parent looking for child care services in Otsego County, Catholic Charities has a free Child Care Support Services' Referral Packet available here.
