No matter, how you feel about them leaving so soon, this is still sad to hear.

Former Binghamton Devil Jimmy Hayes

Former Binghamton Devil Jimmy Hayes has died at the age of 31. He was pronounced dead at his home in Boston on Monday, August 25th. We don't know the cause of his death yet, but it's not being considered suspicious.

This is where perspective comes into play. Three months ago, he became a dad again when his baby boy, Mas was born. He and his wife Kristen also have a two year old son Beau.

Jimmy Hayes Professional Hockey Career

Hayes was drafted in 2008 in the second round by the Toronto Maple Leafs and spent seven seasons in the NHL for five teams including New Jersey. He played three games with the Binghamton Devils in the 2017-18 season with two assists. He may not have been here long but he had a positive impact on the team.

Response from around the league talk about his warm personality, kindness, and generosity. The New Jersey Devils tweeted out " His infectious personality and easygoing nature were contagious to all who spent time with him. He had a tremendous ability to make everyone feel welcome."

His brother, Kevin currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers.
