Lake Erie Named “Best Lake In America” In New Poll

If you have spent any time on the waterways in Western New York, you know that we are spoiled with how much fun can be had on Lake Erie. From boating to fishing or just riding around on a jet ski, thousands of people enjoy the lake during the summer, while ice fishermen enjoy the lake in the Winter.

Now America is learning how much fun Lake Erie can be.

Lake Erie Named Best Lake In America

The Shallowest of all the Great Lakes, Lake Erie was the gateway to the West in the late 1800s and early 1900s when the Erie Canal was built. While massive ships are far and few in between, plenty of people are still active on the lake each and every day.

Lake Erie was recently voted the #1 lake in America in the USA Best 10 readers poll. Lake Erie took the top spot from readers due to the number of things to do on the lake and along the lake shores. Several major cities like Buffalo and Cleveland are right on the lake, creating plenty of things to do.

Lake Erie was also voted the 2nd best lake in the country for watersports by the same USA Best 10 readers. Lake Erie got high marks for the amount of good fishing and places to get onto the water. Also, the ability to fish in the winter was a big plus for readers when they voted for Lake Erie.
