New York Just Dropped the Most Controversial Ice Cream Flavor Yet
Okay, New York. We need to talk.
There are bold food trends, and then there’s this: a breastmilk-flavored ice cream now available for a limited time at a pop-up in New York. You read that right, and no, it’s not made from breastmilk, but it’s definitely designed to taste like it.
Brought to You by… a Parenting Brand?
This unexpected dessert comes from an even more unexpected team-up. Frida, the parenting company best known for baby nose suckers and postpartum recovery kits, joined forces with New York ice cream brand OddFellows to launch this flavor twist. You can snag it in person through August 10 or order it through Frida’s website if you're feeling brave.
They’ve been working on it for months. Like... gestational term months. Frida first teased the idea back in March and now, just in time for peak summer milkshake season, it’s here.
Yes, It’s a Real Thing
So how do you even begin to explain the “why” behind this? According to Frida, it all started while they were designing their newest breast pump. They got deep into the world of breastmilk. So deep, they wondered what it tasted like. Apparently, people were already trying it. “Sipping and even pounding it,” according to their press release. (Sorry, what?)
The Flavor Breakdown
So what does breastmilk-flavored ice cream taste like? Here’s how they described it: “Sweet, nutty and a hint of salt… swirled with rich, creamy fat.”
Reactions Are... Divided
Let’s just say not everyone is screaming for this ice cream. While some folks are living for the chaos: “I’ll take it with whipped cream and sprinkles please,” one fan commented. Others are genuinely horrified that this idea made it out of the brainstorm meeting alive. “I literally can not believe more than one person thought this was a good idea,” another person wrote. Honestly? Same.

Only in New York, Right?
Whether this flavor is genius marketing, performance art, or just a giant publicity stunt, it is a conversation starter. Will you be trying a scoop of this summer’s strangest sensation? Or are you firmly in the “some things don’t need to be recreated” camp?
