Did you know that according to statista.com New York State is only behind Vermont when it comes to producing maple syrup? We LOVE real maple syrup in my house and we'll never have the fake stuff for our pancakes and waffles. Real maple syrup may be expensive but it's so worth it! Plus, when you learn that it takes 40 gallons of sugar maple sap to make one gallon of maple syrup, it gives you a big appreciation for our maple producers.

You can find out just how labor-intensive producing maple products can be and have a lot of fun doing it with New York State's 2022 "Maple Weekend" happening March 19 and 20, and March 26 and 27. Maple Weekend, now in its 26th year is to showcase maple producers across the state who open the doors to their farms and introduce people to what goes into producing maple products, while they show off their product line. It's a great thing to do with kids and I remember enjoying a visit to Shaver Hill Farm in Harpersfield during Maple Weekend years ago with my kids. They are one of the local maple farms with an open house for Maple Weekend along with these other maple producers in our Central New York region:

- Off Road Maple in Franklin
- Thompson's Sugar Shack LLC in Jefferson
- Buck Hill Farm in Jefferson
- Roxbury Mountain Maple in Hobart
- Maplewood Farm & Orchard in Delhi
- Catskill Mountain Maple in Delhi
- Brookside Maple in Centerville
- Dar-View Maple in Delancey
- Windy Acres Maple Syrup LLC in Greene
- Ben & Judy's Sugarhouse in Edmeston
- Stone House Farm in Sharon Springs
- Bittersweet Maple in Berne
