New York Extends SNAP Benefits
Food assistance benefits are being maintained for New Yorkers in need for the rest of the month.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul is directing the State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance to make sure Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or “SNAP” benefits remain at the maximum allowable level for eligible families through the fall.
The Governor says the COVID-19 pandemic has been economically painful for thousands of households across the state. The SNAP benefits help those residents make ends meet.
Households already receiving the maximum monthly benefit and those receiving an emergency allotment of less than $95 a month will receive a minimum supplement of $95.

As is the case with regular SNAP benefits, the supplemental amount can be used to purchase food at authorized retail food stores. Any unused SNAP benefits will be automatically carried over to the following month.
New York has gotten more than $2.9 billion in federal funding for the program since the start of the pandemic.
