NYS Ranks in Top 5 For Boating Accident and Fatalities

New stats released by the U.S. Coast Guard show that New York ranked 4th in boating accidents and 5th in boating fatalities in 2017. Nationally, 84.5 percent of recreational boating drownings involved victims without life jackets. The upcoming Labor Day holiday is a major boating weekend and the Coast Guard is spreading the word about practicing responsible boating, wearing life jackets at all times when on the water, and understanding the dangers of consuming alcohol while operating a boat.
