There's nothing more rewarding than giving to those who could really use it and this includes senior citizens who may be alone in our community.  To cheer lonely homebound seniors, The Southside Mall in Oneonta is asking the community at large to help with Shoeboxes For SeniorsThe mall is holding Otsego County’s 2nd Annual Shoeboxes for Seniors Collection party on Saturday, December 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Last year during their first Shoebox for Seniors party, they collected 213 gifts! Through the Office of The Agings meal delivery service, the gifts were delivered to homebound elderly within our community.

How can you help?  Please drop off your gift at the Green Earth on Market Street in Oneonta on December 15th between 11-2pm.  All the boxes from various collection sites throughout Oneonta will be tallied up.

This Shoebox for Seniors project makes for a great family activity you can do with your kids to celebrate the spirit of the giving season.  Just fill a shoebox with items you think a senior citizen would enjoy, then decorate and tag it for a man or woman.
