Police patrolling New York state parks want to make sure people buckle up. State troopers and the state park police are taking part in a seat belt education and enforcement program running through Aug. 13. Authorities say they choose to run this campaign during the summer months because people are relaxed and not as careful plus speed limits are low in parks meaning people don’t bother bucking up. Last year’s Buckle Up New York campaign resulted in more than 43,000 tickets.
