Every few months, someone on the internet loudly declares that we're probably nearing the end of the superhero movie as a popular genre. And then, every few months, another trailer arrives that proves that we're going to be watching movies starring people wearing capes and tights for a long time yet. The new trailer for 'Avengers 2' lit the internet on fire, as you'd expect from the sequel to one of the most popular blockbusters in recent years. In fact, if success can be measured in trailer views, then Marvel and Disney can already call this one a big winner.

We got our first official look at 'Avengers 2' through concept art shown during an hourlong TV special on ABC, 'Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe.' Now, in honor of Marvel's 75th anniversary of existence, a second TV special will drop this November. Does this mean we will see the first 'Avengers 2' trailer officially released?

Just when you think you have a handle on all of the rumors and spoilers for 'The Avengers 2,' a new and intriguing concept rears its head. Yes, it's once again time to play the "Marvel Cinematic Universe Rumor and/or Spoiler" game and this time, it's all about future iterations of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

We first met the cinematic version of Thanos in 2012 -- his face smiling at us during a mid-credits sequence of ‘The Avengers,’ there to let us know that this guy is the mastermind behind the whole operation. OK then! Eventually we learn that Thanos is trying to collect the Infinity Stones, because if he has those, he will become a god. Fair enough. Though, now, after ten movies in the Marvel cinematic universe – ten! – Thanos has a grand total of zero Infinity Stones. So far, Thanos is terrible at being a supervillain.

Part of the fun of watching a Marvel movie is looking out for all those Easter eggs strewn throughout, and you can be sure 'Guardians of the Galaxy' has a handful, as well. But in case you missed any of them, from the first 'Iron Man' movie all the way up to 'Thor: The Dark World,' MTV compiled a handy video running down all of them, explaining their significance.

Believe it or not, there was a time when Iron Man was a C-list superhero who no one outside of a small niche particularly cared about. And then Robert Downey Jr. was cast in 'Iron Man' and the Marvel cinematic universe exploded, instantly becoming one of the definitive franchises of the 21st century...

It’s not surprising to see a television spot for a critically acclaimed movie claim that it’s the “Best Movie of the Year,” through the use of blurbs either provided by, or lifted from, critics. But, in recent years, with the proliferation of the superhero movie genre, there’s been a trend to be the “Best Superhero Movie.” So, based on these television spots alone, what exactly is the best superhero movie or the best Marvel movie of all time? It appears it’s pretty much all of them.

While Thanos won't pop up in 'Avengers 2,' according to Marvel's Kevin Feige, we will get to see him in 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' At Comic-Con, the Marvel Studios president and producer told us there will be a shot of him replicating that iconic image of the Mad Titan lounging on his throne, and now the first look image has leaked out.
