Chenango County Emergency Services officials are reporting no injuries in a fire at an apartment house in Oxford that has drawn firefighters from several departments across the county.

Authorities say the blaze at 16 Merchant Street was reported at 7:20 a.m. December 9 and quickly drew response from four fire companies, Sheriff's Deputies, Oxford Police, Emergency Services authorities, road crews, medical services and fire investigators.

The blaze was reported near the intersection with heavily traveled County Route 32. That road and other streets around the scene were blocked by firefighting equipment and hoses.

Motorists were being advised to avoid Route 32 in Oxford for the morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from Oxford, Guilford, Norwich and Brisben responded to the scene.
