Top 3 NY Met Prospects Starting Season With The Rumble Ponies

This year, professional baseball will celebrate its 30th year in Binghamton. It kicks off on Wednesday, April 6th with the "Meet the Binghamton Rumble Ponies" Dinner. After a two-year absence, it returns to the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Binghamton.

It promises to be an exciting year with new manager, Reid Brignac, and new owners, David and Karen Sobotka leading the way. On the field, the Rumble Ponies will have the top three prospects in the New York Mets system, according to mlb.com.

Top 3 New York Mets Prospects

They are (1) Francisco Alvarez (catcher), (2) Brett Baty (3B), and (3) Ronny Mauricio (shortstop). They are also considered among the top 100 prospects in all of baseball (Alvarez #10, Baty #27, Mauricio #78).

Reid Brignac's coaching staff brings a combined 34 years of major league experience including Marino Duncan. Duncan played for the 1990 Cincinnati Reds and 1996 New York Yankees World Champion teams. He brings his 12 years experience to the Rumble Ponies as their Bench Coach.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies Promotions

There will be many promotions at the ballpark including specialty jerseys that will be worn throughout the year including the 1986-inspired New York Mets throwback jerseys. Later in the year, NY Met Kevin Mitchell, and NY Yankee Bucky Dent will make an appearance at the ballpark too.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies Opening Night

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies will kick off their season at Mirabito Stadium on Tuesday, April 12th against the Hartford Yard G. Get to the ballpark early for their Fleece Blanket Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans through the gates.

It's also Two for Tuesday with 2-for-1 pricing on domestic draft beers, fountain sodas, and hot dogs. Bundle up in your new fleece blanket and enjoy the first firework night of the year. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
