The 2021 Lunchtime Learning Series continues this month in Chenango County.  So this was something started by UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital and it's a virtual lunch and learn program.  The topic this Tuesday will be  Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) and Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA). And the presenter is Dr. Aditya Pawaskar.  Lets get to the know the Good Doctor a little bit.

Aditya Pawaskar currently has a UHS Rheumatology practice in Vestal.  The Doctor studied at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College while he had his internship at Westchester County Medical Center.  Pawaskar had his Fellowship at the University of Connecticut and he is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Rheumatology.

Now that we have that introduction out of the way, lets focus on the topic.  PMR and GCA  are both inflammatory disorders and according to Pawaskar, these conditions are not always well-recognized or treated effectively, which can increase patient suffering.  This 45 minute presentation will start at 12:15 p.m. via zoom on June 15th. Those interested please register by calling 337-4183 or emailing melissa.stagnaro@nyuhs.org.

According to Chris Kisacky, Vice President of Service Delivery and Development at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, this series was designed for individuals to learn from different experts and in the process getting to know members of the medical staff outside of the exam room. A couple more installments for this lunchtime series is scheduled in July.  Gout and Pseudo Gout will be presented by Rachel Lu-Do, MD July 6th.  The next presentation is slated for July 27th and its on Osteoporosis with presenter Nicole Osterhout, NP-C.
