Before I start writing about the amazing accomplishments of Bette Mayne from Sherburne, I want to give you a quick thought on my personal opinion of Girl Scouts.  My daughter Olivia is 5 and is very excited about becoming a Daisy.  I didn't know how to get Livvy started so I contacted Jaime Alvarez, Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Council and she helped me immediately.  So anyone with a young girl in the house that is looking to get them active once again, this is an excellent option.

Now let's focus on one of the people that make this a truly remarkable organization.  I introduce you to Bette Mayne of Sherburne, a 2021 GSNYPENN Hall of Fame Inductee.  This honor has been bestowed upon Bette for a number of reasons.  First, she has been a Girl Scout for more than 60 years. Going back to her high school days, Bette graduated having earned the Curved Bar which is equal to the Gold Award handed out today.  And this is known as the highest honor in Girl Scouting.

After this, Mayne helped out as a Service Unit and troop volunteer for more than 50 years.  Bette is known as a volunteer that always ensures girls understand the significance of Girl Scouting, traditions and the role they play in those traditions. Bette among others were honored recently during GSNYPENN'S first-ever Virtual Volunteer Appreciation Night.  The gathering took place via Zoom on Girl Scout Leader’s Day, April 22nd. Thank You Bette for all you have done and continue to do for the local Girl Scouts!
